Maria Bertrand is a writer, director, and producer known for her work in film, documentaries, and content. As the founder of Happy Moone Productions, she has made it her mission to bring impactful stories to life and support other filmmakers and brands in sharing their narratives. Bertrand’s storytelling is rooted in themes of healing, human-animal connection, and self-discovery, often exploring the transformative power of relationships—both human and beyond. Her projects, like ​h​er ​a​ward winning feature-length documentary Finding HAPPY, highlight ​authentic and inspiring journeys of personal fulfillment and healing. Maria’s dedication to impactful storytelling is also evident in her EP role on Finding 52: The Search for the Loneliest Whale, which she executive produced alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Adrian Grenier.

​A​long with her documentary work, Maria i​s the ​co-writer, ​co-director, and producer of Got Daddy Issues, a female-driven comedy that delves into the often complex, humorous, and heartfelt nature of father-daughter relationships. Got Daddy Issues weav​es a story that is both funny and poignant, reflecting her commitment to creating narratives that offer both entertainment and introspection​. 

As a published author, Maria Bertrand continues to spread a message of hope and kindness by speaking at schools, using her children’s book Finding Happy the Sparrow to address themes of grief and healing. Her goal is to inspire broader conversations about kindness, using both the book and her films to reach and uplift diverse audiences of all ages.
